Is The Bible
Trustworthy? Non-believers who don't live for Jesus often can't past their objections to the Bible, the Word of God. They dismiss it saying it's outdated, scientifically and historically inaccurate and created by man himself. They reject a common Christian claim that the Bible is the inerrant word of God. Unfortunately, some believe that the story of Adam and Eve may not have gone down exactly as it was written. In fact, he said, people often communicated through stories with figurative meanings because many people couldn't read in those days. For me, the Bible is God's voice. It's a gift in a way because I can't imagine getting by without it. I can come back to the same verse time and time again and get something new out of it. Believing in the Bible should be easy for believers. If you believe in God (who always was, who always will be), it doesn't take much to conclude that he had a pretty good handle on what was being produced. And even if you have some questions about what was written and intended, that shouldn't stop you from repenting for sins and surrendering your life to Jesus while striving to letting him live through you the rest of your life. I really doubt that God sort of walked away while the Bible was written, or gave the authors complete freedom to do their thing. No, he knew exactly what they were doing and worked within their personalities and styles to project his voice. One objection I've heard over the years involves the multiple wives of many people in the Bible. Lately, the Holy Spirit has taught me that the fact that people had multiple wives hardly meant that God approved. I'm simply fascinated by the fact that the Bible not only reflected the times and spoke to particular cultures, but that it still applies to us today. But if you're not a believer, and you think we should sort of die after our time on earth, I can't convince you that the Bible is true. You could read books about the Bible and read it 10 times yourself and you still may not believe. It's all about your heart, and how open you are or aren't to letting the Lord speak to you. The shameful part, however, is that people do reject the Bible without even reading it or studying up on it. They don't appreciate its prophetic accuracy or the way it's been preserved for thousands of years.
The seekers who don't want to live in a state of ignorance should make the effort. Two Internet resources that may help include:
May your heart will be open as you seek Jesus in your search.
