Salvation 101

"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."
Acts 4:12

The context, of course, is Jesus.

Who or what is the anchor in your life? Where do you put your hopes, your expectations for life after death?

When you die, will you just rot in the ground? Will you come back to life as a butterfly? Will your "human spirit" kind of just pass along from here to there forever?

No one, not a Web site like this can convince you that Christianity is the answer. That's up to the Holy Spirit to prepare your heart. One day you may embrace Christianity. It's not too tough. You can read books, talk to a thousand people, stare at the stars. But it's really quite simple.

If this is a struggle, then at least seek Jesus. It's your choice whether to buy into it. Read any of the Gospels. Mostly, in a quiet place, ask Jesus to help you understand if that's his desire.

God loves everyone, Christians and non-believers. But sin separates us from God and the penalty for sin is death. Because he loves us so much, God arranged for his son, Jesus, to die in our place. And yet, eternal life is offered to those who welcome Jesus into their hearts and accept him as their Lord and Savior.

Can you do that? Everything else doesn't really matter at this point, does it? Churches are ideal places to learn about Christianity and grow with the body of Christ. We can't comprehend what reading the Bible does for our souls. But put that aide for now, just accept the simple truth that God loves you and has offered you a way to reach heaven despite your sins.

Ask Jesus to help you not to worry about what people will say, how you were raised or how you'll grow in your faith. Sinful attitudes and behaviors may not vanish in a split second, but some may.

Just reach out and let the Truth consume you; put yourself aside.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death [separation from God], but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 6:23

"But God demonstrated his own love for us in this; while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
John 3:16

"For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"
1 Timothy 2:5

"If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
Romans 10:9

It DOES NOT matter where you've been, what you've done, what you've said, how you've used your body, what you've believed, what you've dreamed, the stunts you've pulled, how "good" you've been.

Repent and choose.

And if you can't just yet, seek Jesus until you can.
