Worth Considering

Here are a collection of observations people have made about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Some are from the Bible, others from assorted articles, sermons or simple comments people have passed along.

  • If you're honestly sorry and humble, Jesus will take you places you never dreamed possible.
  • Intercessory prayer is much more about just being there, not doing it by our own strength.
  • Do you have fire insurance?
  • Lay down your own agenda.
  • Go to church (praise the Lord with the assembly). Arrive early, stay late.
  • Is your family growing in its relationship with the Lord?
  • Be in the world, not of it.
  • God is faithful to show up if we do.
  • Doing what God wants me to do is the most important thing. Most of us ask God to help with our life. God wants to be our life and add to that whatever he wants.
  • Why limit God?
  • We're credited with full righteousness of Jesus.
  • Be all that he wants me to be.
  • Jesus looks at us in terms of what we'll become, not just where we're at today
  • God offers us his riches; we settle for man's trinkets.
  • Are you looking for a formula? There is no formula. OK, if you need a formula, use this one: Seek Jesus with a sincere heart.
  • He won't make you love him.
  • Ask God what he wants you to pray about; send him the prayers that are on his heart.
  • Cry Out: "More Lord!"
  • Friend said God told him to tell me: "Don't forget what I've done for you."
  • Speaker at Holy Spirit workshop sharing the one audible time he heard from God (when he had trouble forgiving an employer): "How dare you not forgive someone for whom I died on the cross!"
  • Be prayed up.
  • We have access to him at the throne; sacrifices aren't necessary.
  • Keep up with your prayer journal
  • Who is on your prayer list?
  • He knows me better than I know myself.
  • Earth is not heaven: Look at the storms, disease, death, etc.
  • We simply misused our free will -- and it shows.
  • Death is the ultimate healing.
  • Let the Holy Spirit convict others; we're just a voicebox.
  • Pray for divine appointments.
  • Pray that the Holy Spirit prepares the other person before you witness to him or her.
  • Your body is a temple; where are you taking Jesus today?
  • It's not about healing; it's about glorifying. How will Jesus get the glory out of a healing?
  • God gives us a measure of his grace when we need it most; he knows the moment, not us.
  • If I die, God will look after my wife and boys in ways I can't begin to imagine.
  • God wants to do so much for me so that he can comfort me and encourage me. He's determined to grow my capacity to let him do more for others through me.
  • Seek Jesus. Seek Jesus. Seek Jesus.
  • We have no clue how God is working on someone. A friend told me to picture the grumpy man who screams when kids step in his yard. Maybe the man has a lot of junk in his life and doesn't like who he has become; maybe he's been praying for healing.
  • I can't wait to see where Jesus takes me next.
  • Jesus says: "Do you know me?"
  • Ask Holy Spirit to guide you as you read the Word.
  • Testify to his goodness, love, grace, salvation.
  • Claim his forgiveness, his healing.
  • Let God be God.
  • I must avail myself to him...let him consume me...it will take a lifetime and then some (whatever he does to prepare me at the moment of death).
  • Along the way, I'll be Christ for others. When I'm done, maybe he'll say, "Well done my loyal and faithful servant."
  • God won't help us until we let him. How authentic would our love be if he forced us to love him?
  • Let go of the self (self-sufficiency); acknowledge your utter dependence upon him.
  • Unite against the sin, not the sinner.
  • Be excited about any moment of growth.
  • Jesus transforms; he doesn't condemn his own.
  • Look into any mirror and say: "I am decent; I am forgiven."
  • Bear fruit. Luke 8:15
  • John 15: "I chose you." (It's not the other way around.)
  • Faith itself is a gift from God; it's the capacity to believe and grow in our relationship with him without seeing him.
  • Don't be proud.
  • We can't be the Holy Spirit to one another; it's the anointing that teaches others, not us.
  • Christianity is not meant to be a spectator sport.
  • Jesus doesn't want to fix you; he wants to kill you.
  • The devil and Jesus Christ are the 2 most powerful beings in the universe -- one of them is going to do it (kill you).
  • If you're not hearing real well from God (audible communication), thank God. He speaks to us in the Spirit, sometimes in subtle ways. Why make him resort to very basic communication?
  • What are you trying to be -- a better Protestant, a better Catholic? Why? And then what?
  • You were Baptized as an infant? Great. Even if you believe you became a Christian that day, a member of the body of Christ, when did you actually accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and begin living for him?
  • Are you more proud of the church you attend than your need for a Savior, than your relationship with Jesus?
  • How hard do we have to try to convince you that you may be going to hell?
  • What's your address for eternity? Where are you going to spend forever?
  • Are you just doing good works to be nice or are you operating in and by the Spirit?
  • Are people noticing that you've been with Jesus?
  • The Word of God is a cleansing agent.
  • Comprising Christians are addicted to mediocrity.
  • I must decrease so he may increase.
  • Draw upon the increasing power of the Holy Spirit to follow his commandments.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to dwell in you, not visit.
