"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through me."
John 14:6
Do yourself a free favor; don't miss out on the free gift of salvation.
Human beings like you, susceptible to pride, misinterpretation and pure stupidity, certainly don't exactly form a strong consensus when it comes to Christianity.
They can't make up their minds on when we obtain Salvation, whether we can lose our standing of being "saved," whether Holy Communion is the real deal or just a memorial and whether it's OK to include Jesus
Christ on a cross (read: he hung on one) or go with plain wood (read: he's not on the cross). That's just the beginning.
Are there modern miracles or was that just something Jesus Christ did or the apostles performed under his power? Did Jesus give the apostles the authority to forgive sins (a basis for the Catholic
sacrament of reconciliation) or should we just confess our sins to God (and maybe admit our weaknesses to a church elder or friend)?
You get the idea.
Your job, if you're open enough to do it, is to seek Jesus with all of your heart and talk to him about a basic truth:
God loves us, but sin separates us from God. The penalty for sin is death and Jesus died on the cross in our place. He destroyed death, coming back to life and offering us eternal life in heaven if we'll just put our life in his hands and welcome him as our Lord and Savior.
Our world, unfortunately, is filled with diverse beliefs. Which one is right?
Only Jesus died on a cross for our sins (it was a one-time event), so that rules out other beliefs.
You might argue that many people from different faith backgrounds at least believe in God. That's nice. It's kind of difficult to suggest that they actually honor the same God if they reject his son. If they don't recognize the one true God in the Bible, who do they worship? Even Jewish people are called to repent and follow Christ, but they don't accept him as Lord either.
Some pretty smart Bible scholars and ministers make some good points about how Jesus loved children and how he will through his grace and mercy welcome youth and those who haven't reached the age of reason. But what about everyone else? The Bible, which God apparently believes has enough information, only talks about Jesus.
Maybe in his mercy, God will take care of others (he'll know their hearts and maybe find a way to introduce them to Jesus, even in a dream at first). That's a HUGE maybe and it's dangerous to "add" anything to God's Word.
So where does that leave you?
OK, maybe you have questions about the Bible (Christians can't even agree on the verses or what books should be in the Bible). God sure managed to preserve the Bible, though, didn't he, through thousands of years? And just look at how many prophecies came true from the Old Testament to the New Testament. It's an incredible book. And why not a book? It's a common way to learn. Not everyone has cable. Would God wear a $750 suit and hair gel for the viewing audience that's taking down that toll-free financial support number?
But what about God? What about Jesus? Look at part of the infinite universe? Does the Big Bang theory offer a way to heaven?
If you're interested in any of the following or active in them, pause long enough to give Jesus a chance. Talk to him. He's not so far away. If these will do the trick, did Jesus waste his time?
